WEIGHT REDUCTION

By #FLAMINGo
  • FLAMINGo targets vehicle weight reduction improving properties of existing aluminium, hence requiring less bulk material for the same mechanical effect and competing with steel for a lot more components, thanks to the increased specific modulus.

  • Further 10% of weight reduction on project prototypes, when such solutions are applied to vehicle design already optimized for weight reduction,

  • The use of FLAMINGo’s material solution would increase the share of steel components that could be substituted with lightweight AMnC counterparts thanks to its enhanced properties as well.

  • Magnesium and plastic parts have both been considered to be further optimized using FLAMINGo’s results, but aluminium components also benefit from an overall weight reduction due to the combination of improved properties over standard Al and topology design.
